“You are perfect just as you are, and you could use a little improvement.” ~ Zen Master Suzuki Roshi
Whenever someone I know returns from a great trip I ask them "What was the best thing?" And eventually, "What was the worst?" So here are some of our favorite, and least favorite, places, things and experiences.
From David. The sail across the Bay of Biscay: The worst was my mind. I was worried about the notorious weather across the Bay of Biscay, if the engine would break down, if I forgot something... my mind drove me crazy at first.
Best was the amazing sea life. From the whales that came up to the side of the boat to the dolphins. At one point there were so many you could hear them singing. Then there was the view of the stars at night. So close I felt like I could touch them!
Best and worst of planning this great adventure
Worst: When people look at me like I'm crazy. All the work it takes to sell and give away so many things. Missing my dogs. When people say "You're so lucky!" It's not luck. Anyone can save their money, take a risk and have an adventure, but most don't because it's not always comfortable.
Best: Knowing that I love the sea and how happy I'll be to be sailing again. Making a list with David of all the places we want to stop from Spain to Italy. Anticipating life aboard a boat together!
