My name is Mora and I'm a 49 year old woman currently living in northern California.
Growing up in a Navy family I got a taste for traveling early. We moved every 2-4 years, and though this was tough in some ways, living in different states, and countries, added a lot of culture and interest to my childhood.
My earliest memory of sailing was in Italy as an adolescent, sailing with my Dad in the Bay of Naples. I got reacquainted with it much later on the San Francisco Bay in my late 30's.
Since then I have crewed on a few boats, in the San Francisco Bay, in the Caribbean, and most memorably, on a sailing yacht from Australia to Borneo in 2011.
I have traveled to many countries, alone and with other people, including: Cuba, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, laos, Spain, Scotland, Italy, Ireland, Aruba, St. Lucia, the Bahamas, and Australia (in no particular order).
I had been raising my son, Ryan, and working as a nurse, which kept me pretty busy, but I still found time to sail and travel. After meeting David, I am ready to sail into the sunset!.
I'm David and I'm 52 and from Scotland.
After I left school at 16 years old, my father told me "You have 3 days to find a job, or you will be coming to the sea with me on my trawler."
I had wanted to be a carpenter, but that was not to be. For the next 10 years I worked on the deep sea trawlers in the North Sea, fishing like my father, and as a ship's engineer.
I then moved on to the oil rigs, working on them for twenty odd years, as a rough neck and derrick man. I traveled to the North Sea, the Falkland Islands, the Gulf of Mexico and the USA,
I had always worked in a very noisey environment so when a friend asked me if I would like to go for a sail, I said yes. I loved it immediately, its so relaxing and quiet and there is a sense of freedom.
I had the traveling bug from my younger years of backpacking in Europe and Canada and the USA, so to sail the Mediterranean seemed the perfect answer.
I set sail from Scotland in June 2016. Mora joined me in Spain and we had a great time together, and the rest is history.
